                                                                                                                - By  Ranjit

Tobacco smoking or chewing has spread  almost all over the world . It has attacked not only on human health but also aggravated the diseases. It has taken even women and children in its grip. Sir Walter Raleigh, who brought it in Europe from America about four hundred years ago did not know one day it would become an incurable addiction of the world . Earlier it was a fashion but now it is problem.
The addict does not know that he /she is doing harm to the non-smoker neighbour also. The non smoker also inhales the air polluted by the smoke of the cigarette . Smoking is slow poison that kills a person gradually. It causes all major health hazards. The nicotine available in tobacco damages our lungs and affects respiratory system. It causes lung cancer , mouth cancer, throat cancer , tounge cancer etc.
We see many horrible picture of affected body parts in television issued by government in anti-tobacco drive . Saturatory warning  ' Smoking is injurious to health ' is printed with picture on forty percent of every packet of cigarette . Inspite of these warnings no one cares about his precious life. The government has prohibited smoking in all public places . But this is not providing much effective . What is needed is that the government should not give license to produce cigarettes and bidis . If the thing is out of sight naturally it will be out of mind . People in western countries are giving up smoking fastly . Indians should also learn from them.
